My New Life

WOW. Things have really changed since my last post. I now have 2 daughters. Caroline will be 4 on August 30th. I can't believe how fast time has flown. Kendall will be 5 months on August 25th. Being a mother of two daughters, it puts an amazing amount of pressure on me. I want them to be ladies but I also want them to be tough and know their value. I hear so many stories of what kids are facing these days and it scares me when I think of my babies in a few years when they are out there. Tomorrow, Caroline moves up to the Pre-K class at Mt. Carmel. She missed the Kindergarten start day by 2 weeks. So, next year she will go to Pre-K at Lonoke and then start Kindergarten in 2011. She is so sassy. Not sure who she gets that from. She is pretty smart but I guess all parents think their kids are smart. She can spell and write her name without any help from me. She can count to 30 with only a few misups. I remember when the lady told me that the baby growing inside of me was a girl. I cried. I mean CRIED. But it's true what some say, God gives you what you need. I love that little girl so much. She is my bud. Kendall is really getting a personality. She smiles and laughs a lot. She is a good sleeper too. I put her to bed around 8:30 or 9:00pm and she will sleep 11 or 12 hours straight. SO NICE!!! Caroline is enjoying a blue popcicle right now. Welp she just split it out of the sleeve. Now there is blue fluid and ice on my wood floor. Gotta run........

We finally have a name

Kendall Bradshaw Flynt..... Matt picked out the name Kendall. I picked out Bradshaw. That is my Mother's maiden name.

At my January appt., Kendall had gained weight as hoped 2 lbs 14 oz and looked really good. She wiggled and squirmed around for us. Caroline thought it was really funny and got excited at hearing K's heart beat. Every time the sonogrammer would scan over Kendall's head, she got a little irritated. She would hit and buck around letting us know that she didn't like anyone messing with her head. Man, she is like her Mommy already.

I survived a week with Matt and Caroline having strep throat. I think I squeezed through without getting sick although today, my throat is really hurting. They are both doing well and back to regular activities.

We have so much to do at our house before this baby gets here! Her room still contains a desk, computer, a ton of green tractors, and a closet full of camo!!! We will spend the new couple weeks getting that stuff moved to the new part of the house. I did order Kendall's bedding so we will start painting her walls soon. The bedding is yellow, green, and 2 shades of pink.... circles! We will use the same crib that Caroline used, dresser too.

I am really worried that I am not going to make it til April 2. I feel funny and in my head, I just keep having these thoughts. I hope I do make the 8 weeks I have left.

I go back to the doctor on Tuesday the 3rd, doing every two week appts now. When I went in January, I had gained a total of 15 lbs with 10 weeks to go.

Caroline is in the yard playing with spoons, forks, cups, and bowls. Digging dirt, enjoying life. It's nice outside today. I am glad she is able to get out and play. That brings back a lot of memories for me playing at Uncle Carl and Aunt Marie's house 28 years ago. I love those memories!!!

An Update....... finally

At my November prenatal appointment, Dr. Cockrum explained to me that there is only one vessel going to the baby. Typically, there are 3. In years past, doctors thought this was tied to fetal abnormalities. But now, we have awesome ultrasound machines that enable sonogrammers and doctors to get up close to the babies to check for any abnormalities. Her concern is that Baby Flynt will not gain weight like a typical baby should. Caroline was 5 lbs 6 oz so it seems that I birth small babies, which is an added concern. I have gained 11 pounds and my belly is measuring as it should. Matt and I have decided to do a 4-D ultrasound like we did with Caroline. That is scheduled for January 20th @ 2:50. Dr. C will see me after the ultrasound and view the scan. She has also mentioned that she will do an ultrasound when I am about 34 - 35 weeks along to make sure that our baby girl is gaining weight. We haven't discussed what will be done if she isn't. I am not even going to spend time worrying b/c I know that God is in control. She is really kicking a lot and moving around so much. Pregnancy is an amazing thing! I have had a lot of acid reflux and the Prevacid is really helping with that. I wish there was a medication I could take for my tendons stretching and pulling. I am a back sleeper so I am finding it hard to sleep at night on my side, with my belly stretching.

Christmas was so wonderful this year. Caroline was so excited when she got up and saw the gifts under the tree. One of the shirts that Santa brought her had a hood. She put the hood on her head, tied the arms around her neck and grabbed her baby. She said "I am Mary and this is Baby Jesus". It was a precious thing to see and hear. She did really well in the Christmas Program at Mt. Carmel Daycare. Last year, she cried and kept yelling "I want my Mommy". The people at Mt. C are awesome and I am so glad that we have Caroline there.

Saturday before Christmas we got together at Maw & Papaw Bradshaw's house with my mom's entire family. The kids all had a great time playing together. It reminds me so much of when me, my brother, Julie and Tracie were kids. We spent Christmas Eve at Meemaw & Peepaw's house with Jacob, Kara, Aunt Kristy and Uncle Jimmy. We went to cousin Nicole's around 9:30 for Christmas breakfast and then to Grandma Gladys' house for lunch with the Flynt-Cordell gang. With so much sickness going around, I really counted my blessings this year.

Caroline loves her new Miniature Daschund, Ginger. Ginger is the cutest little thing and has adapted well to Caroline "carrying" her around. Ginger also loves to ride in the baby stroller that Uncle Jimmy & Aunt Kristy bought for Caroline's baby dolls. Next year, she will be rolling her baby sister around. I hope we have a name picked out by next Christmas. I have my name picked out but Matt isn't finished looking through that book of baby names. Will post some pics of Caroline & Ginger in a day or two. Happy New Year! Be safe!!

Baby Flynt pics

I finally figured out how to post pics of our newest baby girl. They are attached. Now that we know the gender of our baby, we can start thinking of names. If you have any suggestions, please send them our way. Caroline has selected Mushroom Flynt. I am not sure that we are going with that one but at least we have on to fall back on. We want something more traditional so send us your thoughts.

I completed the "optional" additional testing that my doctor's office offers for various birth defects. They lab drew a vial of blood and I got the results back today. We did not do this with Caroline but for whatever reason, I decided to do it this time. I have prayed about it since last Tuesday when they drew the blood. Regardless of the results, I wanted to know as much about this baby girl as I could learn. If I did come back positive, I wanted to be prepared for her birth by praying, reading books, talking to other parents, and prepare my family for what was to come. Anyway... the results came back negative for any birth defects.

We are having a........

We went to the doctor today for the ultra sound. Actually about 11 of us went. We are having a GIRL. Caroline is soooo excited cause she really wanted a baby sister. I measured to be due on April 2, 2009. The baby looked and sounded healthy. Her heart beat was 150 beats per minute. I will try to post pictures if I can get it figured out.

More later....
